Volunteer Abroad in Asia: 1-52 weeks

United Planet’s unique Volunteer Abroad Quest program combines volunteering abroad, language learning, cultural activities, interesting excursions, and more to provide an incredibly fulfilling experience for volunteers and valuable support for local communities worldwide. 

Volunteers of all ages, nationalities and backgrounds are invited to join from 1-52 weeks in eight different countries to volunteer abroad in Asia. Volunteer opportunities range from teaching to orphanage work, medical and dental volunteering, and construction.

United Planet Tibet Quest Volunteer

Short-term Quest (1-12 Weeks):
•Nepal, India, Japan, Tibet, Thailand, and Cambodia.

•Popular with students and families during summer, winter, and spring breaks. Adventurers and retirees may join programs year-round.

Long-term/Gap Year Quest (6 months; 1 year):

•South Korea, Taiwan, and India.

•Long-term programs are perfect for high school and college-aged students taking a semester or year off.

Group Quests:

Quests projects vary by location and are offered to both skilled and unskilled volunteers.

United Planet Short-term Quests (1-12 Weeks Year-Round)

Immerse yourself in traditional village life in Tibet, volunteer at an orphanage in Kathmandu, Nepal or make eco-friendly soap with disabled people outside Tokyo, Japan. Are you curious to learn a different way of life in Asia? These are just a few examples of what a United Planet Quest may entail.

United Planet offers six different countries in Asia and Turkey for short-term volunteer opportunities. Quest programs range from healthcare to orphanage work, teaching, construction work and more. Volunteers support community development through placements at local organizations, clinics and schools. United Planet Long-term Quests (Jan or Aug 2009 Start Date)

Are you planning to take some time off next semester or next fall? Taking a gap year before starting college? The long-term programs offered to U.S. and Canadian citizens through United Planet’s partner organization ICYE afford you the ability to volunteer for six months or one year in four different countries in Asia. Volunteers support community development through placements at local organizations, clinics and schools. Project placements vary by country. *Please note that volunteers must be at least 18 years of age to join a Long-term Quest; age requirements also vary by country.

Dates and Fees

Short-term Quests are available year-round with two start dates per month. Specific start dates vary by location. Long-term Quests begin in January and August of 2009.

• Short-term Quest fees start at: $1645
• Long-term Quest fees start at: $5285

 Program Fees Include:

• Preparation & training before departure
• Food & lodging in your host country
• Airport transportation
• Cultural activities and excursions
• Emergency medical insurance
• On-going support and supervision

 Fees do not Include:

• Visa processing charges (volunteers are responsible for aquiring the necessary Visa)
• International airfare
• Any required vaccinations or immunizations
• Local transportation
