Long-Term Volunteer Abroad

Why do people take 6 -12 months out of their life to work with United Planet?

To experience something different.

To discover something about themselves.

To find their own purpose.

To connect. To learn. To grow.

To immerse themselves in a culture, perhaps their own heritage.

What will it be like for you?

It will be your very own mission of discovery, and we will help you every step of the way.

Let us help you create the experience of a lifetime.

Long Term Volunteer Abroad

What’s It Like?

“These past three and a half months have been the most dizzyingly electric time of my life. It’s been a whirlwind of music, languages, art, traveling, friendship and sheer, uncontainable joy. I’ve been going camping with my closest friends to remote islands, recording original songs in studios, camping in the wilderness, shocking locals with my newfound kiswahili skills,  and meeting tons of talented, interesting, and passionate new people. I simply didn’t know life could be this good. I feel the beginnings of a deep cultural metamorphosis taking place within me.

It’s funny. The volunteer organization hosting me here in Kenya is called ICYE – International Cultural Youth Exchange. I can’t think of a better way to describe this year abroad. It’s like I’m living in a cultural smoothie, trading my nuggets of worldly wisdom for new ones. And the best part? You get to keep all of them.”
