United Planet and Service World
United Planet is a proud founding member of the Building Bridges Coalition (BBC). The BBC is a consortium of leading organizations working collaboratively to promote the field of international volunteering, and is comprised of international volunteer organizations, corporations, universities and colleges, government agencies, policy makers and other stakeholders. The aims of the BBC are:

- To improve the quality of international volunteer service
-
To scale up the number of volunteers sent abroad annually from the U.S.
- To maximise positive impacts of international service in communities throughout the world, and at home
Following these principles, the BBC and its collaboratives launched the Service World initiative, a bold campaign designed to expand international volunteer opportunities for individuals - at every age and among all socio-economic groups - to learn about global problems and find more effective ways to solve them. Service World envisges a world in which volunteer service by people of all nations is a common strategy in meeting pressing challenges in education, health, the environment, agriculture and more. To achieve this, Service World has proposed the Sargent Shriver International Service Act, a piece of legislative action which aims to engage 100,000 volunteers each year in full-time and part-time service by scaling up the Peace Corps and Volunteers for Prosperity and creating Global Service Fellowships.
We urge you to sign the International Service Declaration in support of Service World! We all have a voice - let's use it!
