Volunteer in Brazil

Envision yourself in a country of soaring architectural feats, exciting nightlife and unbelievable landscapes. The sounds of Carnival, six days of music, food and dancing, or the deafening cheers from Marcena Stadium (home of the 2014 World Cup), echo in your ears. Where are you? Brazil, of course! No other place blends outdoor adventure – from deserts to rainforests – with a backdrop of such great diversity quite like Brazil. Volunteers enjoy trying local dishes, Amazonian fruit like the açaí, and getting to know the languages and people of Brazil, one of the largest and most populous countries in South America and the world.

Discover

Prepare to understand all the aspects that make Brazil unique. A vast country which shares borders with every South American country except Ecuador, Chile, and one French territory; it is also the only country in South America which speaks Portuguese as its national language. All these and so many other distinctions characterize the diverse country.

Learn

The wealthiest of Brazil have access to almost half the country’s income. Leaving the poorest to receive only about one percent of that income. The bleak contrast is visibly noticeable through the slums within the metropolitan area, known as favelas.

Challenge

Brazil is made up of 26 Federal States and is more populous as you move south through the country. This is because Northern Brazil is comprised of mostly rainforest and quite uninhabited, but southeastern Brazil is crowded with major cities like Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.
