As an international non-profit organization, United Planet (UP) strives to create a world in which all people understand, respect, and support one another. United Planet's global network of leaders and volunteers fosters cross-cultural understanding and addresses shared challenges to unite the world in a community beyond borders. United Planet’s Volunteer Abroad Quest program provides an incredibly fulfilling experience for volunteers and valuable support for international communities through local partnerships and:

Volunteers of all ages, nationalities and backgrounds are invited to join 1-52 week volunteer abroad programs in over 40 countries worldwide in:

Short-Term Quests 1-12 Weeks

Short-Term Quests are offered in 15 locations worldwide and are a fantastic opportunity for people looking for to volunteer overseas for a shorter time commitment than many other programs. Short-Term Quests are popular with students and families during summer, winter, and spring breaks, in addition to adventurers, older adults and retirees who volunteer overseas year-round.

Short-term Locations (1-12 weeks)

Long-Term Quests (6 -12 Months)

Long-Term Quests are offered in over 20 locations worldwide. Long-Term Quests offer an exciting chance to really immerse yourself in another country and culture, and are perfect for high school and college-aged students taking a semester or year off, or working professionals looking for a career break to volunteer overseas. Group Quests 1-12 Weeks

United Planet works with self-formed groups to take part in rewarding community service projects around the world. This is truly a great opportunity for your group to make a difference in a community overseas, immerse in another culture, explore a new part of the world and learn new things about each other! All United Planet Group Quests combine meaningful service work with exciting excursions and cultural activities!

Three Easy Steps to Apply

Step 1: Choose your Volunteer Abroad Quest Country and then fill in the online application.

Step 2: Submit your $250 deposit at the time of application. You may pay the deposit online with a credit card as part of your application process, call our office at 1-800-292-2316 to provide your credit card information or send a check to our Boston office.

Step 3: The Regional Coordinator in the Boston office will contact you to arrange a phone interview.

  • If you are participating in a Short-term Quest and refer someone who participates in a Short- or Long-term Quest, you will receive 5% off your total program fee.
  • Participate in 2 Short-term Quests (or a Long-term Quest followed by a Long-term Quest) and receive 10% off of your second Quest.
