We have no doubt it will be life-changing and provide lasting memories. Read on for more detailed information about volunteer opportunities in Mozambique.
Located on the southeast coast of Africa along the Indian Ocean, Mozambique is renowned for its beautiful beaches, tasty seafood and warm people. Once a Portuguese colony, you will feel the echoes of Mozambique’s colonial past as you travel through Maputo, a city where the old colonial ways exist harmoniously with indigenous cultural traditions and modern life. Currently, 70% of the population lives below the poverty line; Mozambique is still trying to resolve many of the social problems exacerbated by gaining independence in June of 1975. Volunteers in Mozambique provide vital support to local communities while immersing in a vibrantculture and exploring fascinating areas of this delightful country.
United Planet and the ICYE Federation
For six months to one year, you can experience a life-changing program in one of over 30 countries across the globe. United Planet is the U.S. and Canadian member of the International Cultural Youth Exchange (ICYE) Federation , founded in 1949. Through their vast network and 60 years of experience, United Planet and ICYE offer a wide range of programs for volunteers from around the world.
