Germany, or Deutschland, is the largest country in central Europe and a founding member of the European Union. Bordered by Denmark, Poland, the Czech Republic, Austria, Switzerland, France, Luxemburg, Belgium, and Holland, Germany is a great launching point for exploring much of Europe. After being divided for 55 years the western Federal Republic of Germany (FRG) and the eastern German Democratic Republic (GDR) joined together in 1990 to become a united country once again. Germany is a country of beautiful landscapes, including the Rhine and Danube Rivers and magical castles of Bavaria. It has numerous natural parks, mountains, valleys and lakes. Germany is often known for its complicated past, but volunteering in Germany with local communities will allow you to see that Germans are focused on their vibrant future. Attending a local cultural celebration such as Oktoberfest or Berlin’s Carnival of Cultures will show you that at heart, Germans know how come together to let their hair down, have a good time and laugh a lot! Proust!

Projects with Children
Projects working with people with disabilities
Volunteers work with physically and mentally disabled children. The center works with its members, empowering them by helping them become more self-sufficient, dispelling prejudices and providing activities for them that involve the local community. Volunteer tasks include taking care of the children - washing and feeding them, going for walks, cleaning, playing with them and other activities.
Projects working with the Elderly
Volunteers provide elderly individuals company, a conversation partner, a listening ear and assistance with getting around to various daily activities. This project gives you the chance to experience German culture from those who know it the best.
Volunteers assist in a local organization that works with youth who come from disadvantaged backgrounds. This project aims to provide their inhabitants with family-like surroundings, close contacts, as well as to advance their development and sense of security. Volunteers normally learn about and assist in various types of classes as well as assisting the residents with daily activities.
Volunteers in Germany live with host families or in an apartment at the host placement.
