United Planet Ambassador Club of Cameroon

The United Planet Ambassador Club of Cameroon is based at the main office of A.VU.DR.A. (Association for the Vulgarization of the Right in Africa) and works in collaboration with the Free University Press and the Center for Research in Right and Economic Activities. Our Club promotes social, cultural, and economic development and offers a diverse range of educational activities to reinforce our impact on the local community. We are also active in sustainable development and helping young people access information and communication technology through different micro-projects. We fight against HIV and increase literacy. We believe that the youth are "diamonds in the rough" - and a great potential national resource that only needs an outlet for their creativity and activism.

Location of the club

Cameroon is situated in central Africa, in the Gulf of Guinea on the Atlantic Ocean. The country is often perceived as "Condensed Africa", because of the 279 different ethnic groups in the country and the great environmental variety (equatorial forests and great beaches in the South, mountains and plateaus in the West, savannah in the North, as well as a great variation of wild animals). The country has 22 million habitants (45% younger than 15 years old and 58% living in rural areas). The Ambassador Club of Cameroon is located in Douala, the largest city of the country, and the economic capital of Cameroon. (Yaoundé is the political capital).

Club Activities

United Planet Ambassador Club of Cameroon has organized many activities, including vocational training for young people, workshops, debates, meetings, etc.

We would like to share some of our moments with the World, to show that a United Planet is possible if we all work together to achieve it, step by step.

Osée Romeo visits the United Planet Ambassador Club of the Univeristy of The Gambia!

The aim of the visit is to raise both Ambassador Clubs awareness and to promote and organize activities such as regular meetings, community service and fundraising events, which will be included within the framework of the "Cultural Awareness Project (CAP) Week"!

Message Post from Osée Romeo at his arrival in The Gambia

I have successfully travelled to The Gambia through a hectic journey. I flight from Douala International Airport at 5PM via Cotonou(Benin), Bamako (Mali) and Dakar (Senegal). From Dakar, I pick up a car through the bumpy road the Banjul, The capital of The Gambia. It was a three-day journey.

I was warmly welcomed by Biram Saidybah, the president, United Planet Ambassador Club of University of The Gambia, who took care of everything ranging from accomodation to other logistics.

I intend to stay for one month with the Gambian community.

I am sure happy that I am left with no other word to use than to BIG THANK YOU to United Planet for the opportunity.

For the success of this dream, I am grateful to all the United Planet team not forgetting Dave, Executive Director, Mariona CAP Manager and most especially to Silvia Rodriguez, Ambassador Program Manager.

"Individually, we are one drop. Together, we are an ocean."

Osée Romeo, President of the United Planet Ambassador Club of Cameroon. March 18, 2009.
