
Specifics:
• Arrive in Seam Reap Angkor International Airport one day before the start of the program. Flights to airport available from Bangkok (Thailand, daily), Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam, daily), Phnom Penh (Cambodia, daily) and Singapore.
• Upon your arrival at Seam Reap International Airport, you will be met and greeted at the airport by a representative from our Cambodian partner. You will then be brought to your lodgings in a simple guesthouse where you can settle down for a good rest before the start of activities on the next day. An orientation is included.

You also have the option to support United Planet's Country Funds which support program development and development projects in the communities where our volunteers work. Instead of receiving your $50 refund, you may choose to donate that $50 to the Country Fund where you participated in your Quest. Family Evaluation Refund: UP will only refund one survey per family.

The Cambodia Quest's Cultural Adventures:
As part of the United Planet Quest experience, you may have the opportunity to participate in the following exciting cultural adventures.
Angkor Park (1-day pass for Quests less than 2 weeks and 3-day pass for Quests 2 weeks and longer)
Angkor Wat, the largest and best preserved temple, is one of the hundreds within Angkor Park. This temple is the epitome of the high classical style of Khmer architecture. Angkor Wat has become a symbol of Cambodia, appearing on its national flag, and is the country's prime attraction for visitors.
You will also see the mysterious Ta Prom temple where the 500 year-old strangler fig trees that have grown into and become one with the temple walls. Navigate Bayon temple with its 30’ tall carved Bodhisattva faces on every tower with one face looking in each of the four directions. Another important temple is Banteay Srei, considered to be the most beautiful example of carved Khmer art.
Elephant ride
Climb on board a magnificent Asian elephant for a ride from the south gate of Angkor Thom to Bayon temple, or, up a steep hillside to watch the sunset over Angkor Wat. This is definitely a highlight of the trip.
Tonle Sap Lake
Take a boat out on the largest fresh water lake in Southeast Asia and witness life lived completely on the water. This entire village moves with the floods and draughts of the seasons on houseboats and pontoons, and, is home to thousands of people. You’ll stay to watch a beautiful sunset sink behind the water’s horizon before heading back to Siem Reap.
Cultural Village
Enjoy watching traditional Khmer dance shows and performances depicting the history of Cambodia and the Khmer empire. The Khmer Cultural Village is a great place to mix with local people and learn more about contemporary as well as ancient Cambodian culture.
Khmer Language lessons
While many of the people you will encounter speak English, it is important to learn some basic Khmer language. Practice your Khmer with the children as they practice their English with you.
Buddhist Pagoda tour & lunch with monks
Take an easy walk through an active Buddhist Pagoda while learning more about this ancient religion and interacting with the monks and nuns. Experience the beautiful architecture of the buildings, temples, and grounds. Share a delicious lunch with the monks. An optional meditation class may be available as well.
Tour of a traditional silk making facility and artisan-training center
Learn how silk is transformed from the silk worm to the beautiful and intricate Khmer silk products hand crafted by the artists. Also tour the artisan school teaching traditional art techniques and skills handed down through thousands of years.
GENERAL INFORMATION
Siem Reap, Cambodia is the closest town to the UNESCO World Heritage site of Angkor Park and Angkor Wat Temple. Because of this, the city attracts thousands of tourists each year. There are many places to stay and many great places to eat. Meals are available from traditional Khmer cuisine, to European and American fare and range in price from about $2 to $6.
Local transportation is available from the many motos (scooter-type motorcycles) to Tuk-Tuks (four person carts pulled by motos). A Tuk-Tuk ride usually cost $1 - $2, depending on the destination.
Siem Reap is a very busy place with motos whizzing by carrying everything from entire families, to an adult pig lying on it’s back going to market. It is also full of warm friendly smiles and beautiful faces. Experiencing Khmer culture is unforgettable and life changing. The help you provide through volunteering and mentoring will have a profound impact on the lives you touch…. and those lives will have the same impact on you.
Guesthouse Information
