Cambodia Dental Group Quest

Are you in the dental field or studying to be, and want to help those who have little to no access to dental care?  This is the Quest for you!  Spend an incredible 10 days in Siem Reap, Cambodia while helping children learn more about oral health care. Most children in this area will never see a Dentist.  Most of them don’t have a toothbrush.

Dates: Sunday July 20 – Wednesday July 30, 2008

Work: Volunteers will work closely with Dr. Jon Ryder, the group leader, to treat young patients at the Children’s Hospital.  The group will also instruct children at local schools on how to care for their teeth.

Excursions: The group will spend a couple of days visiting the incredible Angkor Wat temples. They are truly a wonder and a must-see for anyone traveling in Southeast Asia. A visit to the Cultural Villages park and shows may also be planned.

Accommodations: Guesthouse (volunteers may share a room with another volunteer)

Volunteer Requirements:

• Must work in the Dentistry field (dentists, dental hygienists, assistants, etc) or be a pre-dental or dental student

• Minimum age 18

• Willingness to work, learn and share in cultural exchange

• Flexibility & openness

Group Leader: Dr. Jon Ryder, a member of United Planet’s Advisory Board and a Returned United Planet Quest volunteer, will lead the group in their Cambodian experience.  Dr. Ryder has become very involved in the Siem Reap community and has been back to Cambodia several times since his initial Quest Experience.  He brings a wealth of information for the volunteers, not only about dentistry, but about the situation in Cambodia as well.

Program fee: $1,995

The fee includes:

• Pre-departure support and orientation

• Accommodation in a guesthouse with breakfast

• Coordination of all volunteer work and cultural activities

• Travel insurance

• Local transportation during Quest dates

• Airport Transfers on the days designated for arrival and departure

• Entrance fees for planned activities and excursions

The fee does NOT include:

• International airfare to Siem Reap, Cambodia

• Any vaccinations that may be needed

• Personal spending money

• Visa fee

United Planet reserves the right to cancel this Group Quest if a minimum number of participants do not register for it.  In the unlikely event of a cancellation, those signed up for this Group Quest will be able to participate in an individual Quest.
