Mission
United Planet (UP) is a leading international, educational, humanitarian, and peace-building non-profit organization with members and volunteers in over 150 countries. UP is devoted to fostering cross-cultural understanding and supporting communities in need to unite the world in a community beyond borders. The underlying principle of our programs is the concept of Relational Diplomacy -- recognizing that the relationship between people of diverse backgrounds is the basic building block for uniting the world. United Planet’s innovative programs are designed to expose our common human bonds, generate respect and appreciation for our cultural, racial, and religious diversity, and enrich lives of our neighbors worldwide.
What we do
United Planet offers a diverse range of programs to people of all ages, cultures and experience.
Our programs include:
• United Planet Quests: UP Quests provide volunteers of all ages and cultures to participate in meaningful community service work worldwide. We offer Short-Term Quests (1-12 weeks) and Long-Term Quests ( 6 months to 1 year.). Volunteers can participate as individuals or in groups.
• Cultural Awareness Project (CAP): Spreads cross-cultural awareness through presentations that are specifically designed to increase appreciation of cultural diversity, while fostering friendship and understanding. CAP presentations are a way to share your everyday culture, or cultures you have been exposed to through your travels, as well as a tool to explore current global issues.
• United Planet Ambassador Clubs: UP's Ambasssador clubs empower people of all ages, especially the young, to become catalysts for change. By fostering global knowledge and cultural understanding, future leaders
will become empowered to become responsible caretakers.
• Online Programs: Our UP Forum provides an opportunity to develop a global network. It connects people from around the world by facilitatinge the sharing of knowledge, cultural heritage, and global issues.
• United Planet Day: Brings together diverse populations within the local community to both share and celebrate their own cultural differences in order to foster understanding, friendship, and cooperation. United Planet Day falls on the Autumn Equinox- a day on which the sun shines equally on all people on Earth.
Who we help
United Planet exposes people to a world outside of their own. Everyone has the chance to participate and benefit from United Planet’s programs.
Through our Quest program, UP supports a large network of schools, NGOs (non-governmental organizations), orphanages, hospitals, health clinics, community development causes, environmental projects and much more.
United Planet’s CAP (Cultural Awareness Project) brings multicultural presentations to schools, non-profit groups, associations, and government offices and companies around the world.
The VOE (Voices of Earth) online community provides a stimulating and enriching opportunity to interact with people worldwide, transcend barriers, exchange cultures, and examine important global, regional, and country-specific issues.
United Planet’s member-oriented activities also provide fun learning opportunities. Volunteers and members can help others, while learning themselves. Through UP Forum, members are teaching each other languages and exchanging ideas on a variety of local and global issues.
As the global community starts sharing and caring through UP's innovative programs, we will begin to discover, understand, and appreciate each other's culture, heritage, and daily life and struggles on a deeper and more personal level.
There are many ways to contribute to UP. You can make a donation to United Planet or directly to one of of our Country Funds. You can volunteer to give a CAP (Cultural Awareness Project) at a local school church, or community group. You can openly share information about your country, culture, and customs online in the Voices of Earth community. You can volunteer abroad in by particiapting in our Quest program.
