What did you hope to gain from and achieve during your United Planet Quest?
To learn more about a new culture. I also hope to pass on some of my own experiences to the students I will be working with and allow them to better understand my culture.
Have you had any international or intercultural experiences prior to your quest?
Many of the students in my class were born in Mexico. I interact with them on a daily basis and have many discussions with their parents and guardians.
Describe your volunteer work experience.
Teaching children how to speak English and develop other academic skills.
Tell us how you feel overall about your experience.
This was a great experience that allowed me to really become immersed in the Costa Rican culture.
Not only did I teach in a real Costa Rica school, I also ate typical food, watched various Costa Rican t.v. programs, and did many other things that allowed me to feel as if I was really accepted there.
