What did you enjoy most about your Quest experience?
It was the people I met along the way that made my experience. The school staff was amazing, and our host family was very welcoming.
I can't say enough about the people! I am a teacher by profession and it was great to see how another country's education system works. In Tanzania the teachers do not make very good money for the amount of work they do on a daily basis. This was a big eye opener to me.
I have gained valuable experience that will help me in my teaching here in Canada. We also went on various weekend trips, which helped us relax after a long work week.
Tell us how you feel overall about your experience.
This was my first experience volunteering overseas. I enjoyed my time in Tanzania and plan to return one day to visit. The community welcomed me with open arms.
Our host family was excellent; they did not speak English but somehow we still managed to communicate and I have been in contact with them regularly, since my return. The staff at the school also welcomed me with open arms and were always avialable to answer questions, and share part of their culture and daily lives.
