Special Projects
 |
United Planet is always searching for ways to make more of an impact by working together with communities in need. Right now we are involved in two exciting projects: the Sadaaqa (“Friendship” in Arabic”) Initiative and our Micro-empowerment project in Guatemala. The Sadaaqa Initiative aims to build cross-cultural awareness and mutual understanding with peoples of the Middle East and North Africa through volunteer abroad opportunities and community development, while the Micro-empowerment project helps battered women to become self-sufficient through the establishment of a Laundromat at a women’s shelter.
We believe that both of these projects are immensely beneficial to not only the local communities that they serve, but also to our greater global community. If you want to support these projects or volunteer abroad, please contact us or visit the Special Projects section of our website. |
Writing & Photo Contest
United Planet is proud to announce this year’s Writing and Photo/Video contest to celebrate UP Day 2008, during the Fall Equinox when the sun shines on every location on earth for an equal amount of time. So, start writing, snapping those photos and recording those videos to win a FREE two week UP Quest to any of our volunteer abroad locations worldwide!
Please see our UP Day page for more information about the contest and to view last year’s writing submissions and winning photos. |
