Hello,
I am Susie, the current CAP Manager/Alumni Coordinator at United Planet. I love to travel, especially abroad. There is something about being in a completely different surrounding, not being able to understand a single word, and being lost 95% of the time, that thrills me..... I have been to a few different countries, and i am always pleasantly surprised to learn little things that I didn't expect. Listed below are a few random little things I learned from my adventures. 1. Did you know that neckties are invented by Croatians? 2. French fries originated in Belgium, NOT France. 3. In Japan the number of times you sneeze indicates different things. 1. Sneeze once - someone somewhere is praising you. 2. sneeze twice - someone somewhere is talking behind your back. 3. sneeze three times - someone somewhere is missing/admiring you. 4. sneeze four times - you have got a cold. 4. Germans are the second largest beer consumers in the world. (after the Irish) I would like to hear your travel stories and what random/interesting facts you have learned. |

While on my recent travels to New Zealand and Niue, I learned:
- There are 4 sheep to every person in New Zealand. - The NZ government is trying to pass a "fart tax" where farmers will be taxed for the emissions of their cows into the environment! - Niue (small Polynesian island in the South Pacific) is the world's larges raised coral atoll and is therefore called "The Rock of Polynesia"! |

"Fart Tax".....that's an interesting idea....outrageously funny at the same time...
wouldn't it make more sense to have sheep fart tax in NZ since there are 4 sheep to a person ratio? (just a thought) susie |
