Ecuador Excursion to Galapagos Islands
Explore the amazing Galapagos!
While you're in Ecuador, you won't want to miss the incredible sights on the Galapagos Islands. You can add this excursion at a bargain price.
Over centuries the Galapagos Islands have become synonymous with science and nature. The islands are a UNESCO world heritage site, and are famous for their wide array of wildlife. The Galápagos islands and their surrounding waters form an Ecuadorian province, a national park, and a biological marine reserve all in one. When Charles Darwin spent time there, he came up with his theories about evolution and natural selection thanks to the marine and arboreal life sprinkled across the islands.
This trip will take you on an adventure across the islands, where you will be given the rare opportunity to hike, snorkel, horseback ride, and kayak around these naturally diverse wonders of the world. Depending in the length of your trip, you may visit the following locations:
-
Tortuga Bay -One of the most extensive white sand beaches of the islands; a great place to swim, kayak or just stroll along the beach. You will have the opportunity to hike through an ecologically diverse forest, observe a unique variety of animal and plant species, and watch for marine iguanas, sharks and marine turtles that live in the area, as well as several species of marine birds.
-
Floreana - The richest of the islands in history and legends (perhaps because it was the first of the Galapagos Islands to be populated by humans). You will be taken to the Highlands where you can find caves historically used by pirates and other visitors throughout the history of the islands. After learning about the caves and searching for traces left behind by its earlier inhabitants, you will enjoy a picnic lunch. Maybe you will spot marine turtles, tropical fish and starfish while snorkeling in the bay.
-
The Charles Darwin station - Learn the history of the islands, as well as the challenges they face today. In the tranquil waters of Tintoreras Islet, you will be able to see schools of the white-tipped reef shark for which this bay was named, and even have the opportunity to see colonies of the Galapagos Penguins who have recently been relocated here.
