Caitlin Ferrarini

Director of International Programs

Caitlin Ferrarini is the Director of International Programs at United Planet. Caitlin has studied, lived, volunteered, and worked abroad in many capacities.

As a college junior she spent her semester abroad as a participant in the Semester at Sea Program. Over three months, she traveled with 700 other students to South America, Africa, and Asia on a cruise ship converted into a university at sea. She studied and experienced comparative politics, religion, and culture. Caitlin also participated in various volunteer projects such as gardening work in South Africa, assisting at an orphanage in India, and helping with a camp for street children in Brazil.

After college, Caitlin volunteered as an English teacher in Quito, Ecuador. During this time she lived with a host family and took Spanish classes. Caitlin understands first- hand the amazing experiences as well as the challenges volunteers encounter when they immerse themselves in a new culture.

Caitlin also worked at a Spanish language school in Costa Rica as the Resident Assistant and Activity Coordinator. Here she helped students adjust to and thrive in a new culture, dealt with emergency situations, and led students on exciting adventures around Costa Rica. Other highlights of Caitlin’s travel experiences include backpacking in Europe and leading high school students on a month long adventure tour in California. These varied experiences abroad have led Caitlin to see the importance of understanding other cultures, and working at United Planet allows her to help others engage in amazing inter-cultural experiences also.
