Last Thursday, Dave Santulli, Executive Director of United Planet, left for a trip to the Middle East. Dave is traveling with Ashraf Hegazy, Chairman of United Planet’s International Board of Advisors (IBA), and co-founder of the Harvard Arab Alumni Association. Dave and Ashraf will begin their trip in Jordan, and subsequently visit the United Arab Emirates and Qatar.

In Jordan they will attend a conference focused on developing partnerships with corporations in order to further social responsibility. Partnerships between the non-profit and international business worlds are incredibly valuable for expanding the service programs that United Planet offers. One area of particular focus for United Planet is improving local education. While in Jordan, Dave and Ashraf will also meet with Reem Bsaiso, CEO of World Links Arab Region and, like Ashraf, a member of the IBA.

United Planet hopes to open a regional office in the Middle East soon, likely in the U.A.E. United Planet currently sends volunteers to Jordan (Short Term) and Turkey (Long Term), and is launching Short-Term Quest programs in Qatar, the U.A.E. and Morocco. Jordan is a very popular destination, and the program there has expanded greatly since it was first started. With a regional office in the Middle East, United Planet could expand its programs even further.
